Deep tine greens aerification

The following video shows how we deep tine aerify our greens. We use 1 inch coring tines that penetrate 10 inches deep. This process is primarily for internal drainage, since our greens have a gravel blanket under them. It is performed in the spring of each year along with a second aerification using ½ inch tines penetrating 3 inches deep. This 3 inch aerification is primarily done to modify the upper surface for better rooting with the air space created. It also helps to firm the surface, and as you know a firm surface is a good putting surface. I will upload the 3 inch aerification process once we get started with it.
